Cosmedix and Face reality

Our skincare products and retail come from COSMEDIX. They use super clean ingredients that have clinical level actives, luxurious textures, and pure natural botanicals. COSMEDIX delivers transformative results for all skin types and tones without harming your skin in the process. Their products are 100% free of harsh and irritating ingredients such as parabens, mineral oil, petrolatum, PEGs, sodium lauryl sulfate, hydroquinone, glycolic acid and artificial dyes and fragrances. Their formulas are also cruelty-free and approved by the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC) and FDA.

A peel is a technique used to improve the texture, tone and appearance of skin, targeting concerns such as hyperpigmentation, acne, fine lines, and wrinkles. Peels use Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acids, and enzymes to exfoliate and resurface the skin by causing a wounding and trauma effect in the skin to encourage the natural healing process. This sometimes results in the top layer of skin peeling away. Peels vary in depth, molecular make up, and therefore yield different down(recovery) times. Currently, we use Metabloic peels that use Chirally Correct Alpha Hydroxy Acids and encapsulated retinol that work with your skin, allowing it to absorb and be used to stimulate the skin's natural metabolic renewing process, with little to no downtime, or shedding.

This varies with each person, light sloughing to mild flaking of the skin is to be expected. We use Metabolic peels that work with your skin to stimulate its natural renewing processes. Because the Alpha Hydroxy Acid used in our peels are Chirally Corrected, they are able to communicate with the skin on a cellular level to repair, thus reducing the downime and healing process, reducing the chance of any severe shedding.

Chemical peels should be avoided if any of the following conditions are present:

Active cold sores, herpes simplex or warts in the area to be treated

Wounded, sunburned or excessively sensitive skin

Accutane use within the last year

History of recent chemotherapy or radiation therapy

Allergies to aspirinWomen who are pregnant or actively breastfeeding

Clients with Vitiligo

Clients with a history of autoimmune disease (such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, lupus, multiple sclerosis etc.) or any condition that may weaken their immune system

Skin Prep is required prior to most peels. You will have the opportunity to purchse the necessary products to care for your skin prior to and after peel treatments. This information will be detained in your treatment plan and client protal.

Light sloughing to mild flaking usually occurs in 48-72 hours and lasts for 3-5 days depending on the peel and your skin. If you don’t peel, that’s ok! Not everyone does. This does not determine the success of the peel.

In the first 24 hours, your skin will feel tighter and may appear more red than usual.

If you experience any excessive redness or sensitivity, apply REDUCE to the area as often as needed.

Use MYSTIC to keep your skin feeling hydrated throughout the day and when your skin starts to feel dry or itchy (do not scratch).

If you are sent home with your peel still on, you will be provided with instructions for post care. Typically, you can leave the peel on up to 8 hours or overnight, as tolerated.

If your peel was removed prior to you going home, there is no need to cleanse your face that evening. Use your post care products in the morning.
